A RETREAT FOR METHODIST MINISTERS WITH CEREMONY AT THE EFFIGY MOUNDS

For the many years since I heard of them, I have held the desire to some day visit the Effigy Mounds in Iowa.  Very unexpected I was invited to lead a retreat for a group of Methodist Ministers at the Mounds along with my friend Deborah Carlton.

Dr. Mary Fraser, the leader of a  spirituality group for the ministers arranged for me to teach about the twenty count medicine wheel and to do a Sacred Peoples Prayer Ceremony at the Effigy Mounds for her group.  Deborah was invited to share about the sacred healing oils of the bible.

It was a great privilege to meet with these ministers who are so experienced in prayer and intention and so open to experiencing new ways to honor Spirit and the Earth and to share with Deborah in honoring the sacred medicine of the Plant Spirits.

It was a particularly amazing and humbling experience to do ceremony at this very ancient ceremonial site of the mound builders.  These mounds date back 1000 to 1500 years.  It is incredible to try to picture the devotion of these people who constructed these huge mounds by hand, moving the precious soil basket full by basket full. The energy of the site was powerful, like a transmitter of dynamic peace. So welcoming of ceremony and pryaer.

Dr. Fraser had also arranged for us to stay at a remarkable family run retreat center, The Natural Gait where they have 'horse whispers teach clinics. On the other part of these folks property they have an amazing native plant farm, that even grows and sells sacred sweetgrass.  This farm is called the Ion Exchange.   If you are interested in native plants or are every in that part of Iowa or would like to take your horse on vacation with you, check out these places of high energy and profound spiritual intention.

BEING ON STAFF

AT KINDRED SPIRITS CAMP

AT ROWE CAMP AND CONFERENCE CENTER

After only a day at home following the Iowa Retreat we headed for Rowe Camp and Conference Center in Rowe, MA, where I was invited to be on staff for the 'Kindred Spirits" week.

I was new to Rowe Camp, to 'Kindred Spirits' and to being on Staff.  It was a lot to take on.

It was possible in fact delightful because of the marvelous energy created at 'Kindred Spirits." It is an experience of our highest potential in action - to create, heal and empower ourselves as individuals and our community through honesty, love and authenticity.

The staff completely 'walk their talk,' creating an amazing energy 'vortex' of love and compassion through their deep authenticity, dedication to decisions by consensus and over arching trust in total honesty and unconditional love.  If you ever get a chance to experience ' Kindred Spirits Camp' at Rowe Camp and Conference Center don't miss it.
