"Peace comes within the souls of men when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe, and that at the center of the Universe dwells God, and that this center is really everywhere. It is within each of us." - Black Elk |
Sacred Prayer Pipe Awakenings
What is the Pipe? What is it to Awaken a Pipe? These are questions I have never been able to answer. Deborah Carlton, who knew Hollis and awakened a Sacred Pipe last September, recieved this Pipe Dream that so conveys the essense of The Pipe and the Awakening of a Sacred Pipe. We are blessed to have Deborah share this with us. We are honored that there are folks holding the intention to awaken pipes this fall. This is such a special ceremony, honoring this ancient tradition, process and portal of sacred prayer. Our teacher Hollis Littlecreek taught us, "The Sacred Pipe is very ancient. It belongs to all people. You of the white race just forgot. I am hear to remind you." We are forever gratful for Hollis mission of that reminder. The story of that mission is often shared during the Pipe Awakening Ceremony. Anyone is welcome to the pipe awakening. Usually only the awakeners and pipe carriers go into the sweat lodge ceremony, since it is a 'teaching lodge.' However anyone who wishes is welcome to hold the outer energy, support and be part of the celebration potluck that follows the lodge, camp overnight and participate in the awakening pipe ceremony that begins at dawn the morning following the sweat lodge. Those intending to quest are urged to come for the pipe awakening as a preparation for the quest time on the land. The dates set aside for this year, 2009, are: Saturday, September 19th - Pipe awakening sweat lodge, Hiram, ME.Sunday, September 20th - Pipes awakened at dawn, Hiram, MEIf you plan on attending please let me know- 207-443-7001. and for current directions to access the ceremonial land, please email me maryanna@lightcoach.com |
