The Ceremonial Land Where We Quest

When I originally purchased the 17 Acres in the foot hills of the White Mountains which I now call 'The Ceremonial Land', my plan was to live there. I thought it was 'my property.' I began by going out to camp on it. I knew enough to ask its cooperation; to ask what it wanted from me, since I wanted a cooperative relationship with all the Spirits living there.

I remember one weekend I camped at the high point and built a small medicine wheel there. Then I sat down and prayed and asked what the land wanted to have happen there. Its response was very clear.

The Spirit of the land said, " No, you are not to live here. You are to bring people here. You two-leggeds don't know anything about relationship, not relationship with yourselves, or with each other and your really don't know about relating to us, the rest of your family in the Circle of Life. Bring people here and we will teach them and you about relationship.

I was not overly excited about this answer. How could I afford to pay of this land, in addition to having a home elsewhere? So, I was not quick to listen.

I made futile attempts to sell the land. Jeremy and I held a small group of folks in a wilderness quest deep in the White Mountains, 3 miles off trail, only to have someone walk out of the woods and step over a resting quester.

At that point I surrendered to the obvious. I Listened and began to 'Bring people!"

The land has responded with amazing love, wisdom and gentleness towards all who have come. Now I am clear, the land is not 'my property' if anything I am its. I belong to it. As does everyone who comes.
